“Strength resides where one’s ki is concentrated and stable; confusion and maliciousness reign where ki stagnates.”
Solo training is the most difficult training. It is, in one sense, the reason a dojo exists; our progress both in life and in this art is dependent on one another. However, circumstances often put us into a position where this is not possible. We now all find ourselves in this position. Because of this unique challenge, you will need to keep the fire inside you hot in order to keep up daily training.
We will now begin sharing material to assist in both the intellectual and physical study of our art. We recommend setting up a time(s) every day where you dedicate yourself to practice. Commit to a schedule and stick to it.
Below is a link to an article by Kisshomaru Ueshiba, the son of the Aikido founder and second Doshu (keeper of the Way). In it, he discusses the nature of ki (気- vital energy) within our practice.
